Minutes of Annual Meeting

January 20, 2004

  1. President Erin Summerfield called the annual meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

  1. The officers were introduced.

  1. The president summarized the past year’s activities:

·        The spring and fall newsletter was distributed and will continue in the upcoming year.

·        The spring cleanup was rained out.  Only a few people attended the fall cleanup.  The board will attempt to improve participation in future cleanups.

·        The driveway repaving and repair for homeowners was a huge success.  Thanks to Erin Summerfield for coordinating this project.

·        The block party had an excellent turnout and will be held again in 2004.  The website has pictures of this event.

  1. Guest speaker Dranesville District Supervisor Joan Dubois presented current issues such as the Dulles rail project, widening Route 7 and the search for a new police chief and superintendent of the school system.

  1. The Treasurer’s report was distributed and followed by a brief report.

·        The majority of dues have been paid and finance charges were applied accordingly.

·        Copies of checking account and savings account statements from BB&T Bank (Formerly First Virginia) were distributed.

  1. New Business:

·        A member suggested that the community should attempt to get a group rate for natural gas connections as we did with driveways.

·        A member suggested organizing a neighborhood watch.

·        The problem of people speeding in the neighborhood was discussed.   Possible solutions include a police radar trap or children at play signs.

·        A member suggested we support the Friends of the Fireworks.  The board agreed to a $100.00 donation.

  1. Community Area:

·        Committee chair Jim Rose presented plans to construct a community area to include swings, monkey bars and a picnic table located in the common area off of Challedon and Shesue.  Specific plans will be presented in the future via the web site and board meetings.

·        The problem with the pond drainage issue was discussed.

  1. Lands and Grounds:

·        Ed Heberg reported that Sunrise would continue maintaining the common areas in the community.

·        The possibility of adding a Lexington Estates sign on Shesue and Pensive was discussed.
